Parsha Lock

Privacy Policy

Effective September 4, 2026

Parsha Lock keeps social media locked on a device until the day's Torah portion is read and its quiz is passed. This page explains, plainly, what the app does and doesn't do with your data.

The short version

Everything Parsha Lock stores — the parent PIN, the blocked-app list, quiz history — stays on the device itself. There is no Parsha Lock server, no account system, no analytics, and no advertising. The only outside services the app talks to are named below, and neither one receives anything that identifies you or your child.

What's stored on the device

Parent PIN
Stored encrypted in the device's secure keychain (iOS Keychain / Android Keystore). Never leaves the device.
Blocked apps list
Which apps a parent has chosen to lock. Stored locally only.
Quiz & streak history
Pass/fail records and dates, used to show a streak. Stored locally only.
Foreground app name (Android)
Read only to detect when a blocked app opens, so the lock screen can appear. Never transmitted or logged anywhere.

Outside services the app calls

Sefaria (sefaria.org)
Fetches the day's Torah portion text. The request contains no personal data — just a reference to which passage to retrieve.
Anthropic API (Claude)
The day's passage text is sent to generate that day's quiz questions. No information about you, your child, or the device is included in this request.

App permissions

Children's privacy

Parsha Lock is installed and configured by a parent or guardian on a device used by a minor. The app does not knowingly collect personal information from children, does not require any account or sign-in, and sends no data about the child to any outside party. The parent PIN protects the settings screen so only the parent can change what's blocked.

Data retention and deletion

Because everything is stored locally, uninstalling Parsha Lock deletes all of its data immediately — there is nothing held elsewhere to separately delete.
